They helped me out to change my life. Altho I was mandated to the TC program by the judge. I graduated 2 years after I was admitted. At the beginning it was hard, it's not supposed to fun or hanging with friends. Samaritan Village isn't a summer camp, Altho some of their facilities or houses seems to b like a getaway from society or a vacation estate; these facilities are there to help u out of drugs, alcohol or something that makes very addictive too n that happens daily basis, or being involved with the wrong neighborhood. This program helps you to b normal. There's not alot of fry foods, ice cream, or even when the food is great not enough for 2nd's or 3rd's for everyone. Remember you walk in by yourself, n you graduated with alot of supporters. It's your choice if u want or need someone to show u how to say no to drugs or alcohol or any other addictive substances. Remember how your life was b4 u walked in? Freedom just too much of it with no structure. When u walk into any TC (Therapeutic Community) program, Rehabilitation program, Detox program, or an out-reach program, you need to realize that your freedom is on pause until you are able to walk back into society. Being an addict is 1 thing! Having an addiction is another! Being able to make a life is 1 thing! Having the opportunity to control your life is another thing! They get you where u wanna b in life as long as u do the foot work. U must b able to clean out your gut b4 u enter back out into society. Once this process has been completed your on your way out to a new world with a job n housing. If the housing that you catch is similar to the program, get some years in n find out where or how high in the world u wanna b in. For me it took from graduation of S.V. at Van Wyck n 53rd Street back in 2004. Got housing in the summer of 2004. Graduated out the NY Food of Hotel Management 2005. I took up self-employment job in 2005. Got a job at Northern Manhattan in 2007 n Altho I got where I needed to b, it wasn't enough. Now I'm still in housing n I just graduated out of State University for Medicine. If you put your mind into things u can accomplish anything!!!!! Follow your dreams, the always lead you somewhere in life.
